Kinesiology Department program accreditation breaks new ground on national level
The University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 Kinesiology Department is breaking ground nationally with its program accreditation.
The master鈥檚 program in clinical exercise physiology and the undergraduate in exercise science are now accredited by CAAHEP鈥攖he Commission on Accreditation on Allied Health Education Programs. The master鈥檚 program is the first of its kind in the nation to receive accreditation, and the undergraduate program is the second one in exercise science to receive the national distinction.
鈥淭he process was very strenuous, but now we have nationally established standards, and we鈥檙e the only accredited program in Louisiana,鈥 said Lisa Colvin, Professor and Director of Graduate Programs in Exercise Science. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 what employers are looking for, and it鈥檚 also good for the public, as they can be assured that they鈥檙e in good hands. Students who are interested in exercise science should look to us for the gold standard in the state.鈥
