Governor鈥檚 office appoints professor to commission

On Nov. 9, the Office of the Governor appointed Phyllis Sanders, a 蜜桔直播 assistant professor of curriculum and instruction, to serve on Louisiana鈥檚 Blue Ribbon Commission for Educational Excellence.

The Blue Ribbon Commission focuses its attention each year to a specific teaching and learning need in the state and recommends a related set of actions to the Board of Regents and the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

鈥淭his appointment is an honor and I look forward to working with members of the Blue Ribbon Commission as we strive for educational excellence in Louisiana schools,鈥� Sanders said.

The 2006-07 mission is 鈥渢o recommend strategies to address the challenges faced by Louisiana schools to provide quality special education and reading teachers and services for students.鈥�

The commission will also finalize the formula for the Teacher Preparation Accountability System revised during 2005-06.
