Cappel awarded a 鈥淢eritorious Service Medal鈥� for work with veterans

Michael J. Cappel, University of Louisiana at Monroe associate professor of social work, was awarded a 鈥淢eritorious Service Medal鈥� at the Sons of Confederate Veterans national convention held in August in Mobile, Ala.

Cappel has long been active in numerous veterans鈥� organizations and movements. In May, he was recognized as 鈥淐ompatriot of the Year鈥� at the annual Sons of Confederate Veterans conference in Shreveport.
