Wilson recognized by Who鈥檚 Who Among America鈥檚 Teachers for third year in a row

Holly L. Wilson, associate professor of philosophy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, has been recognized for the third year in a row by Who鈥檚 Who Among America鈥檚 Teachers.

Wilson was nominated by students who have appeared in Who's Who Among American High School Students庐, or in The National Dean's List庐; both are publications honoring our nation's top high school and college students. These students are given the opportunity to nominate a teacher who has been most influential during their academic career.

Holly L. Wilson鈥檚 book 鈥淜ant鈥檚 Pragmatic Anthropology鈥� was just released in paperback by SUNY Press of New York. The book appeared under scholarly books in the 鈥淐hronicle of Higher Education鈥� (10.13.2006). One outcome of the positive reception of her book has been an invitation to give a paper on 鈥淜ant鈥檚 Physical Geography鈥� at an international conference on that subject鈥攖his paper will be published in a new book on the topic from SUNY Press.

Wilson still finds time to give service to the community by instructing in area prisons; she is currently teaching ethics at David Wade Correctional Center.

She will also lead an educational discussion about 鈥淧rudence and Emotional Intelligence鈥� Monday, Oct. 1 at a 蜜桔直播 Chautauqua Nexus. The event will begin at 7:15 p.m. in room 134 of the Hemphill Airway and Computer Science Building (at the corner of Northeast Avenue and Filhiol Street). It is free and open to the public.
