Troxclair assists gifted children associations
Debra Troxclair, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, recently attended the University Network Meeting for the National Association for Gifted Children in Arlington, Va.
Troxclair praised the NAGC鈥檚 work. 鈥淭his was an opportunity to provide service to a professional organization. NAGC is our nation鈥檚 鈥榟eart and soul鈥� of gifted education.
At the NAGC University Network Meeting, topics of discussion included development of advanced teacher accreditation standards in the field of gifted education, the Higher Education Opportunity Act and its 鈥渙pportunity鈥� for impacting the education of gifted children in the regular classroom, and the NCATE/NACG Reviewer training program. Troxclair also presented this semester at the Louisiana Council for Exceptional Children鈥檚 SuperConference 28 in Lafayette in January. The conference session was titled, 鈥淭he Impact of Overprotection of Gifted Children.鈥�
